My professional service focuses on bridging LIS and Museum Studies, and I have assumed a leadership role for many different professional organizations, including the iConference, Museum Computer Network, and Museums and the Web. An expert in museum informatics, I am frequently asked to review proposals and papers from a wide variety of LIS and Museum Studies institutions and journals.

Professional Boards, Editorships, and Committees
I have served on national and international boards and committees for more than a dozen different organizations, including serving as Digital Heritage Editor for the International Journal of Museum Management and Curatorship (published by Taylor and Francis); guest-editing five special issues of journals, including special issues on “Digital Convergence” that were published across library, archives, and museum journals simultaneously; and developing and chairing an international workshop on Cultural Heritage Information Professionals, the results of which continue to drive research efforts and funding initiatives today.

Professional Review Activities
I have reviewed hundreds of journal articles, book manuscripts, conference proposals, and grant applications for dozens of journals, publishers, professional associations, and funding agencies. For the LIS community, I have served on the editorial board for Library Quarterly, and on program committees for the iConference, the Association for Information Science and Technology, the Association for Library and Information Science Education, and the IMLS WebWise conferences. For the museum studies community, I have served regularly on program committees for the Museum Computer Network and Museums and the Web conferences. I recently completed a six-term year on the board of the Museum Computer Network (2006-2012), and currently serve on the editorial boards for the Annual Review of Cultural Heritage Informatics and Library Trends.

University and Departmental Service
I am actively involved in university and professional service at many levels, serving on numerous school, college, and university committees at FSU. Within the School of Information, I have served on the Doctoral Program Team (chairing from 2006-2009), Promotion and Tenure Committee (chairing in 2009/2010), and Personnel Committee. Within the university, I have served on the Museum Studies Committee, the University Teaching and Advising Awards Committee (where I helped restructure the submission process and binder materials), the Information Commons Planning committee, and the University Promotion and Tenure Committee. I also serve on FSU’s Council on Research and Creativity, which offers a rewarding opportunity to support faculty research across the university.
